Role Description The Senior Electrical and Automation Engineer is a full-time remote role responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing electrical systems and automation solutions for industrial and energy applications. Day-to-day tasks include performing system studies, specifying equipment, programming and configuring control systems, and integrating automation and robotics within existing infrastructures. The role involves troubleshooting complex electrical and control issues, supporting commissioning and startup activities, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards, safety codes, and client requirements.

The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, prepare technical documentation, and provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers. The position also includes contributing to project proposals, cost estimates, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, efficiency, and sustainability of client operations.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering, including power systems, industrial electrical design, and equipment specification.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Automation and Process Control, such as PLC/DCS programming, SCADA integration, and control loop tuning.
  • Proficiency in Troubleshooting complex electrical, instrumentation, and control system issues in industrial or energy environments.
  • Experience with Robotics and advanced automation technologies, including integration, commissioning, and system optimization.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant industry experience in power generation, oil and gas, marine, industrial, or utilities environments.
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and safety practices (e.g., IEC, IEEE, NFPA).
  • Ability to work remotely, manage multiple projects, and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
  • Experience with CAD and electrical design tools, as well as documentation and reporting for engineering projects.
  • Professional certifications or licensure (e.g., PE, chartered engineer) and experience with renewable or clean energy projects are beneficial.
  • Experience in maintenance of diesel engines, Cummins, Catterpillar, MAN and Wartsila.
  • Demonstrate existence of an effective and efficient HSSE Management System
  • Valid Certifications to work onboard vessels: OPITO approved BOSIET certificate including HUET, Approved IMIST certificate, Confined Space Entry certificate and shall be qualified to a certification scheme which complies with ISO 9712
