Our RoleWe are seeking afriendly, reliable and community-minded Canteen Assistant to join ourvibrant Woods Cafe team. This is a part-time, fixed-term position until December 2026, supporting the day-to-day operations of the College canteen and delivering high-quality cafe and food services to students, staff, parents and the wider College community.
Working closely with theWoods Manager, the Canteen Assistant plays an important role in promotinghealthy food choices, delivering excellent customer service and supportingcatering for College events, while upholding Kingswood College values and childsafety standards.
Responsibilitiesinclude:Assistingwith the efficient day-to-day operation of The Woods Cafe
Providingfriendly, welcoming and professional service at point of sale
Processingstudent lunch orders, including counter service and online systems
Assistingwith food preparation in line with healthy canteen guidelines
Supportingcatering for College events, sporting days and functions
Maintaininghigh standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness
Assistingwith stock control, ordering, receiving and restocking supplies
Supportingcash handling and daily reconciliation in line with College procedures
Assistingwith the training and support of volunteers
Maintaininga positive and respectful environment for students and staff
Upholdour Child Safety standards and policies at all times
Upholdthe values and vision of Kingswood College, contributing positively to ourcommunity
Holda valid Employment Working With Children Check
Producea valid National Police Check (or willingness to apply)
Demonstratea strong commitment to child safety and student wellbeing
Haveexcellent customer service and communication skills
Bereliable, organised and able to work effectively as part of a team
Showinitiative, flexibility and the ability to remain calm under pressure
Have strong culinary skills, with experience inbaking and preparing homemade food highly regarded
Be confident taking ownership of daily specials andsupporting the Café Manager by stepping into operational responsibilities whenrequired.
Beable to relate positively to students of all ages
Experience inhospitality, food handling or event catering is desirable, particularly inbaked goods, as is a current Safe Food Handling Certificate. First Aid andAnaphylaxis Management training will be highly regarded.
