PositionOverview
The Warehouse Assistant plays a key supporting role in the day-to-day operations of the warehouse. Working under the direction of the Warehouse Manager, thispositionis responsible for receiving and dispatching deliveries, fulfilling customer orders accurately and efficiently, and assisting with periodic stocktake activities.
This is a casual/part-timepositionsuited to a reliable, physically active individual who takes pride in maintaining a tidy and well-organised warehouse environment. No supervisory or management responsibilities are attached to this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Receiving & Dispatching Deliveries
Assist with unloading incoming deliveries from trucks and transport vehicles.
Inspect received goods against purchase orders or delivery dockets for accuracy and condition.
Report damaged, missing, or incorrect stock to the Warehouse Manager.
Assist with loading outgoing deliveries and ensuring goods are correctly packed and labelled for dispatch.
Maintain the loading dock area in a clean, safe, and organised condition.
- Picking & Packing Orders
Accurately pick stock items from warehouse locations in accordance with pick slips or system-generated orders.
Packing orders securely and in compliance with any applicable handling or packaging requirements.
Apply correct labels, documentation, and any required regulatory markings to outgoing orders.
Prioritise orders in accordance with dispatch schedules and deadlines.
Notify the Warehouse Manager of any discrepancies between stock on hand and system records.
- Stocktake & Inventory Support
Assist with periodic stocktakes and cycle counts as directed by the Warehouse Manager.
Accurately count, record, and report stock quantities using the relevant forms or systems.
Assist with the organisation and rationalisation of warehouse stock locations.
Support investigations into inventory discrepancies when required.
- General Warehouse Duties
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe warehouse environment at all times.
Support with maintenance of accurate records related to inventory movements and assist with general administrative tasks as required.
Follow all workplace health and safety (WHS) procedures, policies, and instructions.
Operate warehouse equipment (e.g. pallet jacks, trolleys) safely and only when appropriately trained/authorised.
Assist with ad hoc warehouse tasks as reasonably directed by the Warehouse Manager.
Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Good attention to detail, particularly in relation to order accuracy and stock recording.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Commitment to workplace safety standards and procedures.
- Prior experience in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment.
- Familiarity with inventory software.
- Current forklift licence or experience operating warehouse equipment.
