Job Description - Wall Street Financial Trading Firm
Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Financial Reporting Manager to join our fast‑paced financial trading firm located on Wall Street. The ideal candidate will be a CPA with a minimum of six years of progressive accounting experience, demonstrating strong leadership and technical expertise, particularly within the Broker-Dealer sector. This role is critical in overseeing all accounting functions, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and timely completion of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and firm‑specific requirements.
- Regulatory Compliance (Broker‑Dealer Focus): Manage and ensure compliance with all SEC, FINRA, and other regulatory reporting requirements, including the preparation of FOCUS Reports and supporting schedules (e.g., Net Capital, Customer Protection Rule 15c3‑3 computations).
- General Ledger Management: Direct the general ledger and all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed asset management.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Coordinate the annual budget process and perform ongoing financial forecasting, variance analysis, and operational performance reporting.
- Internal Controls: Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls to ensure the integrity of the firm’s financial data and safeguard assets.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- License: Active and unrestricted Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is mandatory.
- Industry Expertise: Mandatory experience working with or for a registered Broker‑Dealer. Deep understanding of financial products traded (equities, fixed income, derivatives, etc.) and related accounting principles.
- Technical Skills: Expert knowledge of US GAAP and SEC/FINRA regulations; proficiency in financial accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the proven ability to lead and manage a team under strict deadlines.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. A Master's degree is a plus.
