My client, an established Energy Investment Group has a new opening - the Development Project Manager will work alongside the Business Development Management team in bringing projects on board.I am looking for experienced Project Managers with a background within/across the power sector in Ireland who excel and are looking to grow their career within the development of projects YOU are exactly the candidate required.
General information on the role : ..The Development Project Manager organises and controls the entire project cycle from initial development, procurement, construction and, finally, commissioning to enable a smooth handover to operations.
The role holder will be a competent and practised Project Manager with experience of both the development cycle of projects (e.g. planning, permitting, and procurement) as well as the delivery of construction projects.They will have the drive and determination to take projects from the early stages of development to completion and final handover to O&M.
The role will be based either at a local site or from home depending on the base location of the role holder.However, significant travel to the project location should be expected, especially during the construction phase where full time attendance at site will be required.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Manage all aspects of projects from the initial development phase (planning, consents) through procurement and construction to handover to the operational team.Ensuring all teams work effectively and that communication both within and across teams is effective.Create progress reports as required and report on project progress at all levels, including to the Board of Directors.
- Ensure project goals, timelines, and budgets are met.Work in accordance with the industry best practice to ensure successful, cost-focused and on-schedule delivery. Identify project requirements, supporting the production of programmes, budgets, quality plans and strategy / execution documents as required.
- Seek to improve all project goals (e.g., cost, performance, programme) through the optimisation of the project.
- Work with the O&M team to ensure that the asset seamlessly transfers to Operations on completion of the project.
- Identify requirements and implement and manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials.Ensure that programmes are coordinated and any conflicts identified / managed. Identify and highlight resource conflicts.
- Ensure that all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are met and that the team targets the highest standards of HSE performance.Drive the development of the quality programmes and procedures and implement them effectively.
- Working alongside the commercial team, become fully conversant with all contracts that are in place for the delivery of the project and ensure that all contractual requirements (by all parties) are met.
- Implement and control appropriate risk management systems for the projects, ensuring that all risks are identified, quantified, communicated and mitigated. Ensuring that assumptions are recorded and communicated effectively.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Able to demonstrate and utilise extensive knowledge and experience of engineering, operational and maintenance management.
- Able to demonstrate and utilise extensive knowledge and experience of contracts and commercial management.
- Prior experience in a role working ideally in a power station or similar infrastructure.
- Management of development projects β desirable.
- Construction management experience β desirable.
- Experience in establishing and implementing a proactive approach towards Health, Safety and Environment management β essential.
- Understanding and commitment to building and leading a constructive culture where employees are provided with challenges and opportunities.
- Has experience in leading and managing a substantial number of employees in a project-driven environment.
Qualifications:
- Degree qualified in engineering or related discipline β essential
- Membership of an appropriate professional institution (Engineers Ireland)β desirable.
- Project Management qualification β desirable.
