About the Role
This is a hands‑on, broad‑scope accounting role that sits at the financial core of our business. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely alongside our remote accountant, you'll take full ownership of the day‑to‑day finance function across a multi‑entity group. This is a genuine blend role — combining transactional accounts, compliance lodgements, financial reporting, and contract finance into one focused position.
From where you sit, you'll have a panoramic view of the entire organisation and develop a deep understanding of how a busy, growing construction business operates. You'll work closely with the CEO, build strong relationships across the business, and have real input into how our finance function continues to evolve.
What You'll Do
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Manage the accounts inbox, including delegation for invoice approval
- Respond to supplier and customer queries in a timely and professional manner
- Upload and process supplier invoices for review and approval via Traild
- Prepare and process supplier payments and manage banking administration
- Manage AR functions including invoicing, progress claims, debt collection, and debtor onboarding
- Manage the retention register and bank guarantees in line with contract requirements
- Conduct detailed credit checks on new customers
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Reconciliations & Banking
- Reconcile credit cards and trade accounts regularly using bank feeds and statements
- Reconcile all company group bank accounts
- Ensure intercompany balance sheet accounts are reconciled on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
- Conduct periodic account audits to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records
Financial Reporting & Forecasting
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and monthly management reports
- Complete end of month reporting across the group
- Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasting
- Liaise with the CEO and remote accountant on financial records, budgets, and forecasts
Compliance & Lodgements
- Prepare and lodge BAS, FBT, and support income tax preparation
- Manage PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax reconciliations and lodgements
- Calculate and lodge Incolink, Coinvest, and Workcover obligations
- Manage fuel tax credits across the group
- Manage insurances and coordinate claims as required
Asset & Contract Management
- Maintain the company asset register in line with acquisitions and disposals
- Manage lease schedules across the group
- Contribute to refining systems, policies, and processes in line with business growth
About You
You're an experienced accountant who thrives in a fast‑paced, commercial environment. You take ownership of your work, think ahead, and don't need to be managed. Construction experience is a genuine advantage — this is a complex, compliance‑heavy environment and you'll hit the ground running faster if you know it.
- Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline
- CPA or CA qualification preferred
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a similar broad accounting role
- Proven experience within a multi‑entity or group structure
- Strong knowledge of MYOB or similar accounting platforms
- Solid understanding of BAS, FBT, PAYG, superannuation, and compliance lodgements
- Experience with construction industry finance — retentions, progress claims, Incolink, Coinvest, Workcover (highly regarded)
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
- Confident working independently and collaborating directly with senior leadership
- Excellent communication skills, honest, reliable, and solutions‑focused
- Strong customer service mindset with the ability to build positive relationships
