Overview

Cedar is partnered with a PE-backed Transport & Infrastructure group to support the appointment of an Interim FP&A Analyst to lead a recharge cost modelling project. This role is offered on a 6-month contract, paying £450 – £550 per day. It will be based on a hybrid basis, with regular time in the office alongside central finance stakeholders.

You’ll join a central finance function playing a key role in delivering clarity and consistency to how costs are allocated across the business, supporting better decision-making and improved financial governance.

The Role

As Interim FP&A Analyst, you’ll lead a focused project to clean up, rebuild, and standardise the Group recharge cost model, creating a robust and auditable framework for allocating labour, overheads, and central costs across entities.

Key responsibilities

  • Reviewing and diagnosing the current recharge cost model, identifying gaps, inconsistencies, and structural weaknesses
  • Rebuilding and documenting a clear, auditable recharge methodology across labour, overheads, and central costs
  • Developing a clean, well-structured cost model that is easy to maintain, explain, and adapt
  • Aligning assumptions with operational reality and ensuring consistency across multiple entities
  • Simplifying complex and messy datasets into reliable, defensible outputs
  • Working closely with central finance and operational stakeholders to embed clarity and best practice
  • Supporting handover to BAU finance teams with clear documentation, logic, and controls

Your Profile

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with relevant FP&A experience
  • Strong FP&A background with hands-on cost modelling experience
  • Advanced Excel skills, comfortable rebuilding models from first principles
  • Experience working in complex, multi-entity or operational businesses
  • Analytical, structured, and able to translate complexity into practical solutions
  • Commercial, pragmatic approach with the ability to operate effectively in a project environment
  • Experience in PE-backed, infrastructure, transport, or large group environments is advantageous
