Overview

Provide legal advice and counsel on all aspects of real estate development projects, ensuring thorough support through acquisition, permitting, construction, financing, and leasing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and counsel on all aspects of real estate development projects.
  • Assist with land and property acquisition and due diligence.
  • Handle entitlement and permitting matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate construction and design agreements.
  • Oversee financing and joint venture arrangements.
  • Manage leasing and sales agreements.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate purchase agreements, development agreements, leases, construction contracts, and loan documents.
  • Manage and mitigate legal risks associated with projects.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on relevant real estate laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including development, finance, and construction.
  • Interface with external parties such as government agencies, lenders, investors, and consultants.
  • Stay abreast of legal developments and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Law degree from a reputable university/law school.
  • Admission to the bar in the country of residence.
  • Dual‑qualified lawyers, especially those qualified in a common law jurisdiction, are particularly encouraged.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law.
  • At least 5 years of experience in real estate law with a focus on development and transactions.
  • At least 2 years of experience in construction, real estate, or disputes.
  • Prior in‑house experience with luxury real estate developers is highly desirable.
  • Experience in property management.
  • Strong understanding of real estate development processes and regulations.
  • Ability to handle complex agreements and sophisticated procurement agreements.
  • Strong negotiation skills with an ability to ensure no risks for the company.
  • Ability to identify key factors in a problem and prioritize accordingly.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in English and Portuguese.
