Overview
Provide legal advice and counsel on all aspects of real estate development projects, ensuring thorough support through acquisition, permitting, construction, financing, and leasing.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and counsel on all aspects of real estate development projects.
- Assist with land and property acquisition and due diligence.
- Handle entitlement and permitting matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate construction and design agreements.
- Oversee financing and joint venture arrangements.
- Manage leasing and sales agreements.
- Draft, review, and negotiate purchase agreements, development agreements, leases, construction contracts, and loan documents.
- Manage and mitigate legal risks associated with projects.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on relevant real estate laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including development, finance, and construction.
- Interface with external parties such as government agencies, lenders, investors, and consultants.
- Stay abreast of legal developments and industry best practices.
Requirements
- Law degree from a reputable university/law school.
- Admission to the bar in the country of residence.
- Dual‑qualified lawyers, especially those qualified in a common law jurisdiction, are particularly encouraged.
- Bachelor’s degree in Law.
- At least 5 years of experience in real estate law with a focus on development and transactions.
- At least 2 years of experience in construction, real estate, or disputes.
- Prior in‑house experience with luxury real estate developers is highly desirable.
- Experience in property management.
- Strong understanding of real estate development processes and regulations.
- Ability to handle complex agreements and sophisticated procurement agreements.
- Strong negotiation skills with an ability to ensure no risks for the company.
- Ability to identify key factors in a problem and prioritize accordingly.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in English and Portuguese.
