About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Operations Specialist with hands-on experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and data operations to support our global data platform. This is a highly visible, customer-facing role requiring collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless, 24x7 data operations. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and has a proven track record of managing, monitoring, and optimizing complex data pipelines and platforms.

Work Shift:

  • The role requires flexibility for either a 5:00 am 2:00 pm or 2:00 pm 11:00 pm shift.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, monitor, and optimize global data pipelines and cloud-based data platforms on GCP.
  • Provide 24x7 support for data operations, including on-call rotation during off-hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for stakeholders, translating business requirements into operational solutions.
  • Hands-on development and operational support using ELT/ETL tools such as dbt and orchestration tools like Airflow.
  • Manage and maintain GCP services including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Dataflow, Dataproc Serverless, Memory store, Pub/Sub, Dataplex, Cloud SQL, and other related tools.
  • Work with streaming and messaging systems such as Confluent and API management platforms like Gravitee.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports in Tableau, MicroStrategy, Power BI, and other BI tools.
  • Utilize Google Cloud Monitoring & Logging to ensure reliability, availability, and performance of data pipelines.
  • Oversee vendor management related to data operations and platform services.
  • Track and resolve incidents through ServiceNow, manage tasks in Jira, and maintain documentation in Confluence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas of improvement, automation, and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications:

  • 37 years of experience in data operations, preferably in a global data platform environment.
  • Hands-on experience with GCP and related services as listed above.
  • Experience with dbt, Airflow, and ELT processes.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with Cloud SQL and BigQuery.
  • Proven experience in 24x7 operational support and on-call rotations.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience interacting with stakeholders and customers.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, and ticketing/incident management workflows.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, MicroStrategy, Power BI.
  • Vendor management experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • GCP certifications (e.g., Professional Data Engineer, Associate Cloud Engineer).
  • Experience with streaming, messaging, and event-driven architectures.
  • Exposure to Dataplex, Cloud Monitoring & Logging, and serverless compute platforms.
