Building Maintenance Technician

In addition, Mountview offers CertHE programmes in Acting and Musical Theatre across regional hubs in cities including Belfast, Birmingham, Manchester, Exeter, Hertford, and Chelmsford, extending its training and outreach throughout the UK.

Role Description

The Building Maintenance Technician is a key member of Mountview’s Facilities & Operations team. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the post holder is responsible for assisting in the upkeep and maintenance of all areas of Mountview’s premises, including buildings, grounds, equipment and environmental services. The position is a physical, ‘hands on’ role and will require strong practical maintenance skills, manual handling, working at height, operating power tools, working in confined spaces and working on the exterior of the building.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills in general building maintenance, including basic plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and decorating.
• Experience with facilities management tasks such as routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and coordinating repairs with external contractors.
• Strong understanding of health and safety practices, building regulations, and safe use of tools and equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues, prioritize workloads, and respond promptly to maintenance requests in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, students, and visiting professionals.
• Organizational skills for maintaining maintenance logs, scheduling work, and managing supplies and spare parts.
