This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, aspiring and customer focused Retail Manager to join our ever growing and well-loved family business. In this fast paced, multifaceted role, you are required to perform tasks to the standards expected to deliver the highest level of customer service.

Your principal duties and tasks will be to:

  • Manage the day-to-day retail operations of the store to ensure it runs smoothly and efficiently whilst optimising sales and profitability.
  • Ensure the delivery of customer service is of a high standard at all times to assure customer satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Ensure customer enquiries are handled in a courteous, timely and accurate manner, including advising on product use within the scope of retail (non-clinical) advice.
  • Determine and manage levels of stock and purchases for front-of-pharmacy (non-dispensary) products, and maintain accurate records of stock levels and store-related expenses.
  • Promote the store’s products and services, ensuring pricing, ticketing and product displays are compliant, current and in line with Buyer/Campaign instructions and marketing policies.
  • Maintain records of stock levels, stock movements and financial transactions in accordance with company procedures.
  • Undertake and monitor budgeting and KPI performance for the retail area, contributing to store budgeting and cost control.
  • Build and maintain strong customer rapport and loyalty through professional, friendly and reliable service.
  • Address customer complaints about goods and services in a professional and timely manner, escalating to the Owner or Area Manager as required.
  • Interview, hire, induct and roster front-of-pharmacy staff, ensuring they are well informed on current sales, promotions and store policies.
  • Ensure front-of-pharmacy staff receive training in safe work practices and enforce these as necessary.
  • Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among employees and promote a positive, respectful and inclusive working environment.
  • Ensure front-of-pharmacy staff receive training in store security procedures, comply with them and enforce these where necessary to prevent loss and ensure safety.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and the business' safety policies, directives, practices and procedures at all times.
  • All other duties related to the position of Retail Manager as reasonably directed by the Owner or Area Manager.

Skills and Qualifications of Candidate

  • Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, Diploma or higher in a relevant discipline, or at least three years of relevant experience in fast-paced customer service and retail environments.
  • At least 2 years of direct experience in a high-volume retail pharmacy is required. More experience is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience in high-volume, fast-paced operations, including responsibility for day-to-day running of a store or department, inventory control, stock-taking and shift scheduling.
  • Experience working within a pharmacy or similar customer-facing retail environment, supporting over-the-counter sales, stock management and store presentation.
  • Proven ability in leading and supervising staff, including mentoring, on-the-job training and maintaining service standards.
  • Strong customer service focus with well-developed skills in complaint handling, de-escalation and building rapport with a diverse customer base.
  • Proven ability in working towards sales targets and KPIs in a high-volume setting.
  • Strong organisational, time management, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Positive, motivated and proactive approach with a willingness to learn and grow with the business.
  • Additional language skills and experience working with diverse communities will be highly regarded
  • Minimum 2 years of full-time or full-time equivalent experience in a pharmacy or retail environment in a related position is required. Direct experience in a high-volume retail pharmacy setting and/or within the Chemist Warehouse network, including dispensing, patient counselling, stock management, or pharmacy operations is highly advantageous.
