The Opportunity
As Raintree Wealth Management's Investment Analyst, you will work alongside our Investment Management team to research and evaluate potential investments across public and private structures, from funds and ETFs to private strategies and alternatives. You will work with the team to conduct due diligence on the managers and strategies we consider, help build the financial models and internal review documents our investment review committee relies on, and, with support, present your findings to that committee directly. You will collaborate across the firm, working with Investment Management, Operations, Compliance, and Wealth Management.
What You Will Do
Investment research and due diligence
- Support the due diligence process on prospective investments across public and private structures alongside the Investment Management team, reviewing offering and fund documents, financial statements, strategy materials, and track records, and meeting portfolio managers and management teams.
- Support the investment identification process: screen inbound investment materials, research prospective funds, managers, and securities, and help source new opportunities.
- Monitor existing holdings and managers, conducting update due diligence, and identifying relevant information for the Investment Management team.
- Own the organization and integrity of due diligence files and records.
Analysis and modelling
- Help build and maintain financial models supporting investment evaluation, product review, and portfolio research.
- Complete economic, industry, asset-class, and company-level analysis that feeds investment and asset-allocation decisions.
- Distill large volumes of information into the few factors that matter and defend your conclusions.
Committee reporting and communication
- Prepare internal investment review, reference, and approval documents.
- Present findings and recommendations to the Head of Products and the investment review committee.
- Contribute to portfolio research, client-facing investment commentary, and reporting materials.
What You Bring
- A university degree, preferably in business, finance, or economics, and 0β3 years of relevant experience.
- Active pursuit of (or holding) the CFA designation, or CIM, FRM, CPA, or an MBA. We support the pursuit of the CFA designation (see below).
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills; the ability to build a financial model (company, fund, or portfolio level) is a real asset.
- Practical fluency with AI tools is an asset. We are an AI-forward firm, and we value analysts who use it to sharpen research and modelling while knowing what to verify, what to challenge, and what confidential information never goes into a prompt.
- A genuine, demonstrated interest in financial markets, asset allocation, and portfolio research. Tell us what you invest in, read, or have built.
- Clear written and verbal communication. This role explains public- and private-market strategies to committees and advisors, and credibility depends on clarity.
- Self-direction, diligence, and curiosity: manage your time, seek feedback, and adapt as the firm grows.
What We Offer
- Base salary of $62,000β$75,000
- Designation support: we support the CFA program.
- Comprehensive benefits including health and dental, and a health and wellness spending account.
- A flexible hybrid environment combining in-office collaboration at our Edmonton headquarters with flexibility.
- Breadth and growth opportunities alongside a senior team with research exposure across public markets, private markets, and portfolio construction that few early-career positions offer.
