About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel Manager to join our Legal team in Brazil. This role will serve as a primary legal partner for our business operations in the region, covering platform operations, commercial partnerships, and regulatory compliance. You will work closely with business, operations, product, and policy teams to provide strategic legal guidance that enables growth while managing risk.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Legal Support
- Serve as a primary legal advisor for business units in Brazil, including platform operations, commercial partnerships, and vendor relationships
- Provide day-to-day legal counsel on operational matters, including contract structuring, labor compliance, and regulatory frameworks under Brazilian law
- Review, draft, and negotiate contracts with business partners, third-party service providers, and technology vendors
Regulatory & Compliance
- Monitor and interpret evolving regulations related to platform economy, labor law (CLT and Lei 14.297/2022), consumer protection, and platform liability in Brazil
- Lead regulatory engagement and submissions on behalf of the business, including responses to government inquiries, agency proceedings, and policy consultations
- Develop and maintain compliance frameworks for partner onboarding, insurance requirements, and occupational health & safety obligations under Brazilian regulations
Risk Management & Litigation
- Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks arising from business operations, including personal injury claims, regulatory disputes, and data privacy issues (LGPD)
- Manage external counsel on litigation, arbitration, and regulatory investigations in Brazil
- Establish and maintain internal escalation protocols for high-risk legal matters
Policy & Product Collaboration
- Partner with product and engineering teams to ensure new features, algorithms, and platform rules are legally sound and compliant with Brazilian law
- Advise on commercial structures, earnings models, and platform policy changes from a legal and regulatory perspective
- Support government affairs and public policy teams on legislative developments affecting the platform sector in Brazil
What we look for:
Must-Have
- Law degree from an accredited institution; active OAB registration required
- 7+ years of legal experience, with at least 3 years in-house at a technology, platform, or services company
- Deep expertise in contracts, platform regulation, or commercial/operations law
- Proven track record of advising on high-volume operational legal matters in a fast-paced environment
- Strong contract drafting, negotiation, and risk assessment skills
- Full professional proficiency in Portuguese and English (written and spoken) — both are required for this role
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with on-demand platforms, marketplace businesses, or high-volume service operations in Brazil
- Familiarity with LGPD and its application to platform operations
- Experience managing regulatory investigations, labor audits (fiscalização do trabalho), or collective litigation in the platform economy space
- Prior experience building or scaling a legal function within a high-growth tech company
