Job Description

Our client is seeking an Executive Director in the seniors’ care space. The role will be based full-time, on-site (5 days/week). This opportunity sits within a highly regarded memory care provider, known for delivering best-in-class, person-centred care.

The successful candidate will lead the launch of a brand-new, purpose-built 65-suite dementia care community in a prime, downtown-adjacent Toronto location.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site Executive Director with full accountability for operations, performance, and culture
  • Lead the end-to-end launch of a new dementia care community, including systems, processes, and team build-out
  • Recruit, hire, and develop a high-performing interdisciplinary team across clinical, operational, and administrative functions
  • Oversee all aspects of care quality, programming, and regulatory compliance within Ontario’s retirement home framework
  • Drive occupancy through lease-up strategy, referral development, and community engagement
  • Act as the primary ambassador to families, healthcare partners, and the broader community
  • Manage full P&L responsibility, including budgeting, cost control, and financial performance
  • Foster a strong, values-driven culture focused on accountability, compassion, and operational excellence
  • Ensure the community remains inspection-ready and compliant with all applicable regulations

Requirements

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in seniors’ care, healthcare, or a related field
  • Proven experience in a site-level leadership role (Executive Director, Administrator, General Manager, or equivalent)
  • Strong background in dementia or memory care environments
  • Demonstrated ability to build teams, lead operations, and manage financial performance (P&L)
  • Clinical credibility; nursing or healthcare background strongly preferred
  • Deep understanding of resident-centred care and regulatory requirements in Ontario
  • Track record of driving performance in both care quality and business outcomes
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with new community openings, lease-up, or operational turnarounds
  • Advanced degree (Masters) in healthcare, nursing, or administration
