Assistant Professor - American Politics

Position Description

The Department of Political Science invites applications for a full‑time tenure‑stream assistant professor position focused on American Politics. The appointment rank is Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027. Location: St. George (Downtown Toronto) campus.

Requirements and Qualifications

• PhD in Political Science or a closely related discipline (or expected completion shortly thereafter).
• Demonstrated excellence in research and teaching, with publications in top‑ranked or field‑relevant journals, conference presentations, and strong faculty endorsements.
• Special interest in democracy in the United States and empirical research on American institutions or behavior.
• Teaching record and dossier showing accomplishments and a commitment to high‑quality instruction.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an innovative, independently funded research program.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in line with departmental priorities.
• Fulfill service and administrative duties as assigned.

Salary Range

Expected salary $120,000–$160,000 CAD per annum, dependent on experience; higher salaries may be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
