The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking ahighly qualified and experienced Senior Accountant to lead the organization'sfinancial reporting and technical accounting functions, ensuring the integrity,accuracy, and compliance of its financial statements in accordance withInternational Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

The position: Reportingto the Senior Corporate Controller, the successful candidate will oversee thepreparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements inaccordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), providetechnical accounting leadership, strengthen internal controls, supportfinancial governance, and drive continuous improvement across accountingprocesses. The selected candidate willbe based in Lima, Peru.
Key Responsibilties:
- Be directly responsible for thepreparation and timely issuance of monthly, quarterly, and annual financialstatements in full compliance with IFRS, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, andcompleteness of financial information.
- Serve as CIP's technical accounting expert by interpreting IFRS, advisingon complex accounting transactions, evaluating new accounting standards, andensuring consistent application of accounting policies.
- Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, key accounting estimates, andfinancial statement disclosures to maintain reliable, audit-ready financialinformation.
- Strengthen and monitor internal control frameworks by identifying risks,leading remediation plans, and promoting compliance with organizationalpolicies and donor requirements.
- Act as the primary focal point for internal and external audits, ensuringthe timely preparation of audit documentation and resolution of audit findings.
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement ofaccounting policies, procedures, and financial reporting processes, includingautomation and standardization initiatives.
- Ensure timely and accurate tax compliance for Headquarters, includingstatutory filings.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and financial orientation toaccounting staff and outsourced finance personnel while fostering a culture ofcontinuous learning and excellence.
Requirements
What are we looking for?
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA/CPC) with an active professional license(mandatory).
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, includingresponsibility for preparing IFRS-compliant financial statements.
- Strong technical knowledge and practical application of IFRS.
- IFRS Certification from a recognized institution (preferred).
- Solid experience in financial reporting, auditing, taxation, and internalcontrols.
- Experience working with ERP systems (Unit4 Business World or similar ispreferred).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- High level of integrity, accountability, discretion, and attention todetail.
- Advanced English proficiency.
