Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and GL account reconciliations
  • Perform monthly operational review/analysis over the financial results prepared using accrual accounting
  • Create journal entries and adjustments as needed to ensure monthly statements are accurate and complete
  • Assist with completing month end and quarter end tasks as required
  • Review and test internal controls, analyze internal controls processes, and address any deficiencies
  • Communicate with operational staff and/or leader regarding any issues found
  • Assist with supporting documents as requested by leaders and/or auditors
  • Assist with preparing financial statements and other public disclosure documents
  • Assist with IT automation initiatives as required
  • Other duties as required or directed

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years with a publicly traded company would be an asset
  • Prior real estate accounting/property management experience would be an asset
  • Recent CPA or working towards designation considered an asset
  • Knowledge of business best practices

Technical Requirements:

  • Proficiency with Office 365 (Excel, Word and Outlook).
  • Knowledge with accounting software and working in a fast-paced computer environment.
  • Sound analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills

Non-Technical Requirements:

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and time-management skills
  • Ability to adapt to new software
  • Any previous software conversion experience would be considered an asset
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload, and the workloads of others.
  • Experience and judgement dealing with accounting issues
  • Deadline and goal oriented
  • Ability to work independently and with other Associates in a team environment
  • Passionate and eager to take on new challenges
