The Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research (IDAEA‑CSIC) is seeking a PhD candidate to research the traffic‑bounded pollution in Barcelona under the TRACE work frame (Traffic‑Related Aerosol Characterization and Emissions). The focus will be to characterize the urban traffic aerosol with advanced instrumentation (ACSM, Xact, SMPS…) and machine‑learning techniques.
The selected candidate will work in a multidisciplinary and international research environment, contributing to the assessment of atmospheric pollution and its effects on health and climate.
Responsibilities
Conduct research on traffic‑bounded pollution in Barcelona, characterize urban traffic aerosol using advanced instrumentation and machine‑learning techniques, and contribute to the assessment of atmospheric pollution and its effects on health and climate within a multidisciplinary and international research environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Physics, Environmental Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Data Science, Geology, or related disciplines.
- Programming skills.
- Interest in machine learning techniques.
- Ability to work in an organised, rigorous, and collaborative manner.
- Motivation to develop a PhD thesis in an international and multidisciplinary research environment.
