Job Description

We are seeking a bright and energized Systems Engineer to join our Projects Integrated Project Team. The role will focus on Submarine Combat System development, working closely with stakeholders and leading verification and validation activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement product solutions for integration into the Combat System.
  • Lead and conduct product verification and validation activities, ensuring alignment with design specifications.
  • Generate and maintain product design certification documentation in accordance with system product specifications.
  • Provide engineering support to transition products into service.
  • Conduct technical risk analysis and lead junior engineers to facilitate documenting and executing verification and validation activities.
  • Run major reviews throughout the project lifecycle, including peer reviews, preliminary and detailed design reviews and test readiness reviews.
  • Mentor junior team members to build skills in systems engineering methodology and required tools and procedures.

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (minimum).
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Systems Engineering involving requirements definition, requirements management, analysis, design, integration and verification in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Communication, Software and/or Combat/RF Systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders at client, peer, supplier and senior leadership levels.
  • Knowledge of project management milestones coupled with the ability to work autonomously or with minimal supervision to deliver completed work according to scheduled commitments.
  • Available to undertake travel where necessary to meet role requirements.
  • Applicant must be eligible to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to Negative Vetting 1 level.
  • Desirable: Experience working within Defence or highly regulated industry; experience with Microsoft and Atlassian tool suites (Teams, JIRA, Confluence etc.); experience with scientific or engineering documentation and test engineering processes; experience with Linux operating systems, networking and technical problem solving.
