Job DescriptionSanderson are partnering with a leading organisation operating within a regulated infrastructure environment is seeking to appoint an Economist to join its economic and regulatory team in Dublin. The team plays a key role in overseeing pricing, performance and capacity across a complex, high demand sector. This role will suit a candidate who wants to develop applied experience in regulatory economics, working on high impact decisions with visibility across senior stakeholders and policymakers.
The Role You will join a small, specialist team responsible for economic oversight and regulatory analysis. You will contribute to key decisions and support projects that require strong quantitative and commercial judgement. Key areas of responsibility include: Economic regulation of pricing and performance frameworks Oversight of charging models and operational performance Capacity analysis and planning in a constrained environment Contribution to policy development at national and European level Data analysis and modelling to support wider organisational objectives Key Responsibilities Deliver high quality economic and quantitative analysis to support decision making Develop forecasting models covering demand, revenue and cost trends Build and maintain financial and performance models Prepare consultation papers, decision documents and internal reports Engage with stakeholders and assess competing commercial positions Monitor and report on performance, service quality and investment delivery Maintain awareness of developments in regulatory and economic practice Qualifications and Experience required: Postgraduate qualification in economics or a related discipline, or relevant experience Strong analytical capability with a focus on applied economic work Advanced IT capability including Excel and Microsoft 365 Experience working as an applied economist.
Experience in a regulatory, infrastructure or applied economics environment Strong financial or spreadsheet modelling capability Experience with econometric tools such as Stata Knowledge of microeconomics or regulatory economics Confidence presenting to senior stakeholders Exposure to sectors such as infrastructure, utilities, transport, finance or similarly regulated environments For more information contact Elaine Liston in Sanderson on or apply online for more details.
