Job Description
Overview
The Compliance Analyst is responsible for supporting the organization's compliance initiatives by performing compliance testing, risk assessments, monitoring, analysis, and reporting on business operations and/or vendor oversight to ensure adherence to applicable federal and state regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards. This role helps identify compliance risks, implements controls, and fosters a culture of ethical business practices through compliance testing, risk assessments, monitoring, and vendor oversight.
Responsibilities
- Conduct compliance reviews and risk assessments across departments to ensure processes align with legal and regulatory standards.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of compliance policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Monitor and analyze new and existing laws, regulations, and policies and communicate impacts to relevant stakeholders.
- Investigate compliance issues and partner with internal teams to implement corrective action plans.
- Prepare and maintain documentation and reports related to compliance testing, risk assessments, and vendor reviews.
- Perform research, root cause analysis, and process improvement activities to support compliance testing results.
- Collaborate with business units to strengthen controls and reduce compliance risk exposure.
- Escalate potential compliance violations or concerns to leadership and compliance management when appropriate.
- Participate in special projects, targeted risk assessments, and peer quality reviews.
- Conduct peer cross-training and support team development activities.
Requirements
- 3+ years of progressive experience in compliance, testing, risk management, auditing, or a similar analytical role.
- Knowledge of industry regulations relevant to mortgage, insurance, warranty and service contracts, and/or financial services industries.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present findings to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Helpful to have
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Legal Studies, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CRCM, CCEP, CIA, CAMS, or similar.
- Experience using compliance management systems and testing tools.
- Experience developing compliance testing programs, risk assessments, vendor reviews, and control evaluations.
- Knowledge of regulatory risk frameworks and control environment mapping.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively across teams.
- Strong decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-resolution capabilities.
