Lab Patient Technician position at LifeLabs in Chatham-Kent, ON, CA. This full-time on-site role offers opportunities for career growth. This vacancy is for an existing part-time float position with a schedule including weekdays and Saturday hours. The role involves working across Chatham and Wallaceburg locations.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and collect required information from patients, explain the specimen collection process, and ensure patients follow necessary test protocols prior to collection.
  • Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect Holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
  • Collect special test specimens (e.g., medical/legal drug screens, paternity tests, and clinical trials) and complete related documentation.
  • Maintain client relationships by responding to inquiries and following up on requests.
  • Complete data entry of patient demographics, requisition information, and other data related to processing test results.
  • Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.

What you will bring to the role (Qualifications)

  • Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent (preferred).
  • Phlebotomy experience is an asset; ECG training or experience is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
  • Strong customer/patient service and the ability to relate to patients and clients, even in stressful situations.
  • Strong empathy, flexibility, adaptability to change, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict patient privacy and confidentiality.
