Rotation / Shifts

Days and nights, including weekends, 12‑hour shifts. The Hospital reserves the right to change shift patterns.

Basic Requirements

• Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Ability to perform BCLS to the College of Nurses Standards.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the nursing process and ability to apply it in the clinical setting.
• Recent cardiac care or medical/surgical experience.
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and arrhythmia interpretation.
• Knowledge of the care of the general patient in the unit and ability to apply it clinically.
• Commitment to continuing education and willingness to participate in departmental education activities.
• Ability to assess patient learning needs and plan appropriate teaching.
• Respectful attitude toward patients, the public and colleagues.
• Effective oral and written communication skills with patients, public, colleagues and other health professionals.
• Ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team in a fast‑paced, rapidly changing environment.
• Willingness to participate in self‑evaluation.
• Eligibility to work in Canada.
• Proficiency in English and French oral expression (advanced) and comprehension (advanced).

Preferred Qualifications

• Recent acute medical/surgical experience.
• Current consolidation experience in cardiovascular care.
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and arrhythmia interpretation.
• Recent course in coronary care, critical care or UOHI Cardiac Nursing Series.
• Experience reading and interpreting 12‑lead ECG.
• Member of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO).
• Member of the Canadian Cardiovascular Care Network (CCCN).
