Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join an Engineering team at a busy manufacturing facility in North Dublin. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safe operation of production equipment and plant machinery.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance, fault‑finding, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to maximise equipment uptime and production performance. This role would suit a qualified technician with strong mechanical and electrical skills who enjoys working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on manufacturing equipment and site services.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults on production machinery.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot automated and PLC‑controlled equipment where required.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and commissioning projects.
  • Complete maintenance documentation accurately using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is completed in accordance with Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions following equipment failures.
  • Work collaboratively with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to ensure operational targets are achieved.
  • Maintain workshop tools, spare parts, and housekeeping standards.

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years' post‑apprenticeship maintenance experience within a manufacturing or production environment.

Required Skills

  • Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills across both mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience working with PLC‑controlled machinery and automated production equipment is desirable.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience using CMMS software for maintenance planning and reporting.
  • Understanding of preventative maintenance principles and reliability‑focused maintenance practices.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Flexibility to work shifts and participate in an on‑call rota if required.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience within food, pharmaceutical, FMCG, packaging, or high‑volume manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, 5S, or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with variable speed drives (VSDs), sensors, inverters, and industrial control systems.
