About the Position

Providence is a registered charity providing therapeutic and educational services to families through 7 schools and childcare facilities in Calgary and surrounding areas. We are currently seeking a full‑time teacher for a temporary 4‑month contract starting in August 2026.

Requirement: Must hold a valid Alberta Interim or Permanent Teaching Certificate. COVID‑19 vaccination is required for all employees.

Teacher Support

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement programs following Alberta Education ECS guidelines.
• Provide developmentally appropriate, engaging learning opportunities in a vibrant play‑based program.
• Establish and maintain a safe, stimulating, age‑appropriate classroom.
• Provide written reports or updates on child progress and goals as described in IPPs.
• Supervise and lead classroom teaching/therapy assistants, setting clear expectations and fostering a positive, team‑oriented culture.

Qualifications

• Mention a recognized Canadian university education degree.
• Alberta Interim or Permanent Teacher Certificate.
• Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate.
• Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour or disabilities (preferred).
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.

Physical Requirements

The position requires lifting and carrying, bending at the waist, stooping, twisting, supporting weights up to 50 lbs, and frequent standing, walking, and sitting.
