Role overview
Ilkari is looking for a committed, proactive and resourceful Accounting Assistant to help grow and maintain both the finance department and the wider business, ensuring timely and accurate management accounts, a smooth month-end close, and effective, efficient finance operations while advising colleagues and stakeholders on financial matters.
This is a hands‑on role at the core of a finance function in transition. You'll be directly involved in setting up new procedures, automation, and the implementation of a new finance system, working closely with the Management Accountant Team Lead and supporting the Finance Team in their day-to-day operations. Finance is undergoing a challenging but exciting period, onboarding new products and services and building many processes from the ground up, so you'll have real scope to shape how things are done.
What you’ll do
- Close out the ledgers at month-end, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare the monthly management accounts.
- Prepare and submit various tax reports and payments.
- Handle payroll postings.
- Maintain Balance Sheet and Fixed Asset reconciliations.
- Work with local accountants and auditors.
- Work closely with Procurement to ensure invoices and purchase orders are tracked and accurate.
- Support the implementation of a new finance and accounting system, and write the subsequent processes.
- Proactively look to automate financial tasks, reporting, variance analysis and cash management.
- Get involved in Accounts Receivable and Payable as necessary.
- Contribute to regular cash flow forecasting.
- Manage local bank and crypto accounts.
- Assist company leadership and other stakeholders with financial queries.
- Support project managers across various projects, handling all financial aspects and queries.
- Provide ad‑hoc analysis, reporting and support to the wider Ilkari business as required.
What are we looking for
- Experience: 5+ years with extensive knowledge of accounting fundamentals and finance systems. Experience working in Technology is an advantage.
- Education: An accounting qualification – AAT, CIMA or similar.
- Technical skills: Experience with accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, D365); strong MS Excel skills are required.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional, customer‑focused and stakeholder‑oriented approach.
- Attention to detail: Strong organisational skills and keen attention to detail, comfortable dealing with numerous and complex data sets.
- Problem‑solving: Proactive in identifying and resolving operational and procedural issues, with a solution‑oriented mindset and a focus on process improvement.
