Role: Casual RN – Anaesthetics & PACU

As a member of the Casual Nurse Bank, you will provide specialist nursing care within our Anaesthetic and Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU), supporting a broad range of oncological surgical procedures. You will work alongside anaesthetists, surgeons and the multidisciplinary perioperative team to deliver safe, high‑quality care throughout the perioperative journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide skilled nursing care during the anaesthetic phase of surgery.
  • Deliver comprehensive patient assessment, monitoring and recovery care in PACU.
  • Recognise and respond promptly to deteriorating patients.
  • Support safe recovery from anaesthesia using evidence‑based practice.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure exceptional patient outcomes and experiences.
  • Maintain high standards of patient safety, infection prevention and clinical documentation.

What You’ll Need

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum 12 months recent Anaesthetic and/or PACU nursing experience in a tertiary acute hospital.
  • Demonstrated competence in caring for patients undergoing general, regional and monitored anaesthesia.
  • Strong clinical assessment, decision‑making and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Competence using electronic medical records and digital clinical systems.
  • Commitment to delivering safe, high‑quality, patient‑centred care.
  • Up‑to‑date immunisation status.
  • Availability to work a minimum of 3–4 weekday shifts per fortnight.
    Preference will be given to applicants who can offer regular, ongoing availability across Monday to Friday.

Highly Regarded

  • Postgraduate qualification in Perioperative Nursing (Anaesthetics and/or PACU).
  • Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
