CNC Machinist – Programmer 

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced CNC Machinists to machine large, custom components in a job shop environment. This position is ideal for professionals who thrive on machining complex, one-off parts rather than repetitive production work. The successful candidate will have strong setup and machining experience and have experience in Mastercam programming, as this is a critical part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC vertical mills and horizontal/vertical lathes.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Determine tooling, workholding, and machine setups for large, custom components.
  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam software for 2D, 3-axis milling, and 2-axis turning operations.
  • Make program edits and machine adjustments to improve efficiency, accuracy, and part quality.
  • Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards and engineering specifications.
  • Troubleshoot machining and programming issues to maintain productivity.
  • Follow all safety and quality standards while meeting production deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience operating CNC mills and lathes.
  • Strong setup experience machining large, custom, or low-volume components.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Required: Strong proficiency with Mastercam CAD/CAM software, including creating, editing, and optimizing CNC programs.
  • Experience with CNC program troubleshooting, toolpath optimization, and setup verification.
  • Experience machining fabricated, welded, or heavy components is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving skills.

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (approximately 50+ hours/week).
  • Optional Saturday overtime: 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
  • Overtime paid at 1.5x the regular hourly rate.

Pay

  • $30–$40 per hour, based on experience.
