About the Role
In this role, you will report directly to the Head of Operations in Adelaide and take full operational ownership of our end-to-end AU collections and financial hardship function. This is a permanent work-from-home position based in Adelaide, leading a team of seven remote Senior Collections Officers located across Australia, while working closely with our New Zealand head office.
Responsibilities
- Own the operational performance, targets, and metrics of the AU collections and financial hardship function.
- Lead, coach, and develop a dedicated team of Collections and Hardship Officers, fostering a high-performance, empathetic culture.
- Design, implement, and continuously optimise data‑driven collection strategies to maximise recoveries and meet ECL targets.
- Manage relationships with external partners, including legal counsel, mercantile agents, and debt‑purchasing entities.
- Ensure the entire function operates in strict accordance with Australian credit regulations.
- Identify macro‑level shifts in customer payment patterns and translate these insights into actionable improvement plans, collaborating with the Risk and Credit teams to refine lending criteria.
- Act as the ultimate resolution point for high‑value defaults, complex payment negotiations, and sensitive hardship cases.

- Proven experience in consumer collections within the Australian financial services, banking, or fintech sectors.
- Deep, practical knowledge of Australian credit regulations and a strong framework for managing financial hardship ethically.
- A track record of managing operational teams under pressure, with a knack for keeping morale high, driving targets, and fostering professional growth.
- Exceptional negotiation, conflict‑resolution, and stakeholder management skills.
