Job Description

DFP Recruitment is seeking an experienced ASO8 Manager Business Planning to join a South Australian Government department. This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic leader to drive corporate planning, organisational performance and governance initiatives while working closely with senior executives to support the delivery of key government priorities.

This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a background in strategic planning, business performance, governance or organisational improvement within a complex environment.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director Corporate, you will lead the department's strategic and operational planning framework, ensuring alignment between organisational objectives, government priorities and service delivery outcomes. You will provide high-level advice to executive stakeholders while leading business planning processes, performance reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation and ongoing review of corporate and business plans.
  • Coordinate annual business planning cycles across multiple divisions.
  • Develop, monitor and report on organisational performance measures and key performance indicators.
  • Prepare high-quality executive reports, briefings, dashboards and strategic documentation.
  • Provide expert strategic advice to the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Support governance, risk management and organisational accountability frameworks.
  • Facilitate strategic planning workshops and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen organisational planning and performance.

About You

  • Demonstrated experience leading strategic planning, business planning, governance or organisational performance functions.
  • Strong understanding of government planning, reporting and accountability frameworks.
  • Proven ability to influence and build effective relationships with senior executives and key stakeholders.
  • Highly developed analytical, problem-solving and strategic thinking skills.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, including experience preparing executive-level reports and briefings.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams.
  • Experience managing organisational change and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Degree in Business, Commerce, Public Administration, Management or a related discipline.
  • Postgraduate qualifications such as an MBA, MPA or Master of Management will be highly regarded.
  • Qualifications in project management, governance or change management are desirable.
