  • Salary: $36.00 hourly / 30 to 50 hours per week
  • Terms of employment: Permanent, Full time
  • Overtime required, Early morning, Morning, Day, Evening, Weekend, Overtime available
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience

2 to less than 3 years

Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option for remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, GPS, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions
  • Arrange travel, related itineraries and make reservations
  • Load and unload goods
  • Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
  • Oversee vehicle condition and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs
  • Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of the vehicle
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Receive and relay information to central dispatch
  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
  • Tarp and ensure safety and security of cargo
  • Transport and handle dangerous goods
