Teacher - Secondary Generalist - Big Picture Learning

We are seeking to establish a pool of Secondary Generalist - Big Picture Learning Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full‑time and part‑time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

We're ideally seeking exceptional secondary teachers who are passionate about personalised learning and will be committed to the Big Picture Learning design. This unique role combines the responsibilities of an Advisory Teacher with those of a secondary subject teacher, providing the opportunity to build meaningful, long‑term relationships with students while supporting their academic, personal and post‑school development. Previous experience with Big Picture is not essential.

As an Advisory Teacher, you would teach and mentor a class of students over multiple years, working closely with families and the wider community to develop and implement personalised learning plans based on each student's interests, strengths and aspirations. You should foster a strong sense of belonging and wellbeing, guiding students to become self‑directed learners and supporting them to achieve success both within and beyond the classroom.

Alongside your Advisory responsibilities, you would teach in one or more learning areas. We’re ideally looking for versatile teachers who are confident teaching a combination of English, Science, Mathematics and Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS). You don't need to be a specialist in every learning area; rather, we’re looking for educators who are adaptable, collaborative and committed to designing authentic learning experiences that connect curriculum with students' interests.

Experience or expertise in the Arts or Technologies would be highly regarded.
