Job Description
Alpha Adroit is seeking a range of technical professionals across multiple disciplines. The following outlines core responsibilities, qualifications, and requirements for each role. Applicants should review the section most relevant to their experience and apply accordingly.
Concrete Testing Technician (CCIL Certified) Responsibilities: Perform concrete and aggregate testing in accordance with CSA, ASTM, and other applicable standards. Conduct field density tests on aggregates, soils, asphalt, and other road construction materials using a nuclear density gauge. Carry out laboratory and field testing of concrete materials and test different road construction materials.
Train seasonal staff, prepare test reports, and maintain electronic test records and databases. Serve as the OHS Safety Officer when required. Perform site hazard assessments and follow safety procedures and instructions.
Qualifications: Certified CCIL concrete tester and aggregate tester. Minimum two (2) years of field and laboratory testing experience (lab management experience is an asset). Knowledge of testing standards and Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S).
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license and minimum three years of clean driving record. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work under variable or harsh environmental conditions. Strong verbal and written communication skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google applications.
Own truck with commercial insurance is an asset (mileage reimbursed). Engineering Technologist / Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) Responsibilities: Conduct concrete and aggregate testing as per CSA, ASTM, AASHTO, and other standards. Perform field density tests using a nuclear density gauge.
Analyze and maintain laboratory equipment; calibrate testing devices. Provide test reports, maintain electronic records, and train staff. Conduct maintenance of laboratory equipment and follow safety protocols.
Qualifications: Civil Engineering Technologist Diploma or equivalent degree. Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or eligible with the Association of Science & Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET). Certified CCIL concrete tester and aggregate tester (asset).
Minimum two (2) years of field and laboratory testing experience with nuclear density gauge usage. Knowledge of testing standards, occupational health and safety, and road construction engineering principles. Strong communication skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license. Geotechnical Engineering Technician / Technologist / EIT Responsibilities: Procedure of field and laboratory testing for soil, rock, and construction materials. Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure quality management system compliance.
Assist with geotechnical investigations, sampling, and reporting. Travel to project locations across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia. Perform training of staff and educational support.
Qualifications: Geotechnical or civil engineering degree or diploma. Minimum 2 years of geotechnical field and lab experience. Knowledge of testing standards, OH&S, and terrain-specific analysis.
Strong communication and documentation skills. Valid Class 5 driver’s license; willingness to travel internationally. NDT Technician / Technologist / Engineer Responsibilities: Perform NDT tests for concrete, wood, metals, resins, and plastics.
Operate and maintain NDT equipment; conduct data analysis. Prepare and maintain test reports and documentation. Follow safety protocols and radiation safety manuals.
Travel to project sites across Canada and internationally. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; engineering degree is an asset. Certified NDT Level II (UT2) or equivalent NDT certifications.
Experience with magnetic particle testing, liquid penetrant, or other NDE methods. Strong analytical and computer skills (Microsoft Office). Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license and willingness to travel.
