Compensation: CAD 140,000 - CAD 160,000 - yearly Job Description AECOM Buildings + Place is seeking a motivated and skilled Senior Structural Engineer to help lead building projects (commercial, institutional, light industrial facilities such as Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants and Sewage Lift Stations). This position can be based in Calgary or Edmonton with opportunities for hybrid work. Some travel to nearby cities may be required.

Project assignments may include Municipal, Commercial, Institutional, Justice, Education and Government projects.

Major Responsibilities The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: Independently perform structural analysis and design of steel, concrete, wood, and masonry structures in accordance with relevant codes and standards. Prepare technical specifications and contribute to project documentation. Prepare structural analysis and calculation reports.

Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, project managers, and clients to ensure efficient project execution. Conduct site visits, inspections, and structural assessments to evaluate structure’s conditions and provide recommendations. Ensure project deliverables meet quality, budget, and schedule expectations with little supervision.

Provide technical or operational guidance to less experienced engineers, EITs and technicians. Stay updated on industry codes, regulations, and best practices to ensure high-quality design solutions. Qualifications In order to be considered for this position, candidates must meet the below requirement, at a very minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or equivalent, and six (6) years of experience as a structural engineer.

Holding security clearance or the ability to obtain secret level security clearance. Preferred Qualifications 8+ years of experience in structural engineering after receiving the P.Eng., including leadership in design delivery. Experience in structural design of industrial plants, commercial buildings, government facilities, municipal infrastructures, and transit stations.

Proficiency in 3D structural analysis, modeling, and design software including ETABS, STAAD Pro, SAP2000, SAFE, and other relevant CAD tools. Proven expertise in applying all major structural design codes and standards, including NBC, OBC, CSA S16, CSA A23.1, CSA A23.3, CSA S304, CSA O86, AISC 360, ACI 318, etc. Good written and verbal communication skills (English proficiency essential).

Ability to recognize and adhere to established deadlines and schedules. Ability to fit into a fast-paced team environment and/or work independently. Self-motivated, detail oriented and multi-tasking.
