Job Overview Cogir Senior Living manages retirement residences across Canada. We seek a passionate Culinary Manager to lead our culinary and dining department, recruiting, training, and overseeing a team of culinary and service professionals. The role focuses on cost efficiency, delivering exceptional dining experiences, collaborating with executive leadership, and ensuring resident satisfaction.
Responsibilities Recruit, train, and manage the culinary and service team. Develop and maintain diverse menus using premium ingredients. Control food cost and manage budget and inventory.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards. Collaborate with the Executive Director, National Director, and Regional Managers to translate culinary visions into action plans. Maintain resident satisfaction and elevate dining quality.
Qualifications & Requirements Red Seal Certification is an asset. Several years of professional chef experience, progressing through kitchen roles. Prior supervisory or leadership role in a culinary setting (Sous Chef, Kitchen Supervisor, Lead Cook).
Post‑secondary education in culinary management or related field. Valid Food Safety/Food Handler certification. Smart Serve Certification or provincial equivalent.
Strong computer skills for inventory management, menu planning, and communication. Knowledge of budgeting, cost control, and inventory management. Experience in retirement living is an asset.
Ability to provide a criminal background check or Vulnerable Sector Check within six months. Skills for Success Culinary knowledge and experience with cooking techniques. Strong leadership and team motivation.
Dedicated to mentoring and coaching culinary professionals. Excellent time management and multitasking. Attention to detail, quality, and taste.
Clear and open communication. Customer/resident focus. Innovative thinking and problem solving.
Interpersonal skills and positive relationship building. Calm under pressure. Willingness to stay current on culinary trends.
