Clinical Trials Data Manager โ NHS Scotland Base: Edinburgh Cancer Centre, Western General Hospital Agenda for Change Band 5 Salary: ยฃ34,544 โ ยฃ43,039 Full Time - 36 hours per week 12 months fixed term The Edinburgh Cancer Centre at the Western General Hospital is a participating centre of the NRS South-East Cancer Research Network (SE-CRN). SE-CRN supports the provision of cancer clinical trials across NHS Lothian, NHS Fife, NHS Borders and NHS Dumfries and Galloway. A vacancy has opened within the data management team for a full-time Clinical Trials Data Manager (AfC Band 5).
The successful candidate will collaborate with existing data management staff and medical and nursing colleagues to facilitate the collection and reporting of high-quality clinical data for clinical trials, ensuring adherence to protocol requirements and recognised standards such as ICH GCP. The role includes recording and reporting clinical data and liaising with clinical trial sponsors and coordinating centres to ensure that all aspects of trial delivery comply with regulatory guidelines and sponsor requirements. Responsibilities Collaborate with data management staff and clinical teams to facilitate collection and reporting of high-quality clinical data for clinical trials.
Ensure adherence to trial protocols and recognised standards, such as ICH GCP. Record and report clinical data; liaise with sponsors and coordinating centres to ensure regulatory compliance and sponsor requirements. Support data cleaning, data validation, data transfer and query resolution activities.
Qualifications and Skills Educated to degree level or equivalent experience. Strong analytical and reporting skills with attention to detail. Experience in a clinical trial environment is advantageous; knowledge of medical terminology is desirable.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for relationships with clinical and non-clinical staff. Flexibility and adaptability in a changing work environment; ability to work on trials across different cancer groups when required. Working Arrangements The post is on-site; not suitable for home/remote working.
Additional Information There is a legal requirement to demonstrate permission to work in the United Kingdom; see relevant guidance on work eligibility. PVG Scheme membership/record may be required; if not currently held for the required group, an application to Disclosure Scotland will be needed before starting. Criminal records checks may be updated due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025; the appointment may be subject to joining the PVG Scheme if classified as a regulated role.
