Job Purpose and Summary At CVS Health®, Pharmacy Managers play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within their pharmacy. They lead and develop a pharmacy team that provides exceptional patient care by promoting best practices and leading through change while identifying and addressing performance opportunities. They support program awareness, onboard new staff, recognize achievements, and consistently exhibit best practices in dispensing, counseling, and immunizing.
Key Responsibilities Lead the pharmacy team during bench shifts, coaching performance and ensuring compliance with workflow procedures. Provide safe and accurate prescription fulfillment, including inventory management and protection of cold‑chain products. Deliver patient counseling, empathy, and care, proactively resolving insurance or medication issues.
Offer and administer immunizations and support technician training for immunization procedures. Conduct onboarding for technicians and pharmacists, ensuring timely completion of required training and licensure. Maintain compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations and address issues through the Rx Director as needed.
Partner with the Store Manager to develop a talent pipeline and cross‑train staff for pharmacy roles. Manage performance for Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists, delivering annual reviews and closing competence gaps. Write or delegate pharmacy scheduling and maintain a flexible schedule aligned with business needs.
Review business reporting to develop action plans for workflow, service, patient care, and compliance improvements. Build a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion, fostering psychological safety and feedback loops. Maintain clinical and technical skills through required training, CME, and continuous learning.
Support pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services when permitted. Ensure compliance with all federal and state laws, CVS policies, controlled substance dispensing, privacy, and security standards. Essential Functions Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
Complete required training within designated timeframes. Concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly between tasks, and confirm prescription accuracy. Provide friendly customer service, notice patient reactions, and respond appropriately.
Use clear verbal and written communication, active listening, and timely inquiry. Apply mathematical reasoning to dispense medication amounts accurately. Resolve challenging interactions with patients or colleagues, selecting the best solution.
Meet physical demands including mobility, lifting, and precise machine adjustments while maintaining visual acuity and safe posture. Communicate and exchange ideas verbally and in writing as required. Lead by example, delegate, empower, motivate, and coach team members; promote high performance.
Adapt, take ownership, and lead collaborative solutions to challenges. Perform any additional tasks directed by Supervisor or Manager. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located.
Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. 1‑2 years of experience as a Pharmacist. Preferred Qualifications Completion of the CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PM‑EL) program. 3‑5 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
Ability to work in the home store and at other locations across the market as needed. Physical Demands Mobile and able to remain upright for extended periods. Lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead and stretch.
Repetitive finger and hand motions for typing or inventory work. Lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally; 10 lbs. frequently. Maintain visual acuity for reading and small‑part inspection.
Compensation Typical hourly rate: $65.00‑$85.00 (base). Eligible for bonus, commission, or short‑term incentive programs. Full‑time position with anticipated weekly hours: 32.
