Head of Engineering Data Engineering - Azure - Up to £110,000 Hybrid / Predominantly Remote - Midlands (Preferred) An exciting opportunity to join a growing organisation entering a major transformation phase, driven by a high-profile public sector programme set to significantly scale its technology and engineering capability. As part of this growth, the business is reshaping its engineering function and is now looking for a Head of Engineering to provide strong, strategic leadership across Data and Software Engineering teams. This role is focused on leadership, direction, and delivery at scale.

With a clear pathway to Engineering Director level within 12-18 months. The Role Lead a team of approximately 30 engineers across Data & Software Engineering Oversee multiple delivery squads (direct and matrix management) Set and maintain engineering standards and best practices Provide leadership, challenge, and support to Engineering Managers and Team Leads Ensure delivery aligns with business and programme objectives Play a key role in shaping the future structure of the engineering function Tech Environment Microsoft Azure Databricks .NET SQL Server Key Requirements Proven experience in senior Data Engineering leadership (essential) Experience operating at Head of Engineering level or similar Background managing multiple teams or squads in a delivery environment Broader exposure to Software Engineering (.NET desirable) Strong stakeholder management and communication skills Comfortable operating at a strategic, non-hands-on level Package & Benefits Up to £110,000 salary Hybrid working - mostly remote Typically 1-2 days per month in the office (collaboration/workshops) Occasional UK and nearshore travel Strong progression opportunities and high internal visibility Apply Now This is a rare opportunity to take on a high-impact leadership role during a critical period of growth, with genuine progression built in.
