Position Summary

The Warehouse Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the warehouse to ensure efficient receiving, storage, inventory control, order fulfillment, and shipping activities. This position provides hands-on leadership to warehouse personnel while maintaining safety, accuracy, productivity, and quality standards. The Warehouse Lead serves as the first point of contact for warehouse team members and ensures company policies and operational procedures are consistently followed.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations

  • Lead daily warehouse operations to meet productivity and service goals.
  • Coordinate receiving, put-away, picking, packing, staging, and shipping activities.
  • Prioritize daily workloads based on business needs.
  • Ensure orders are completed accurately and shipped on time.
  • Monitor workflow and adjust labor assignments throughout the day.

Inventory Management

  • Maintain accurate inventory through cycle counts and audits.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure proper product identification, labeling, and storage.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs.
  • Maintain FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory practices where applicable.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise and mentor warehouse associates.
  • Assign daily tasks and monitor employee performance.
  • Train new employees on warehouse procedures and safety standards.
  • Promote teamwork and accountability.
  • Assist with scheduling and attendance tracking.
  • Provide coaching and performance feedback.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce OSHA and company safety policies.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections.
  • Ensure proper operation of forklifts and warehouse equipment.
  • Report accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Maintain clean and organized warehouse conditions using 5S principles.

Quality Control

  • Verify incoming shipments for accuracy and damage.
  • Inspect outgoing orders before shipment.
  • Ensure proper packaging standards are maintained.
  • Resolve shipping and receiving discrepancies.
  • Maintain high levels of customer service through order accuracy.

Equipment Management

  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and warehouse equipment safely.
  • Report maintenance issues promptly.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections.

Documentation

  • Complete receiving and shipping documentation.
  • Update inventory transactions in ERP/WMS systems.
  • Maintain warehouse logs and operational reports.
  • Track key warehouse performance metrics.
Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED (associate degree preferred)
  • 3–5 years of warehouse experience
  • 1–2 years of supervisory or team lead experience
  • Forklift certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or ERP software
  • Strong inventory control experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in construction materials, fencing, manufacturing, or industrial distribution
  • OSHA safety training

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds
  • Stand and walk for extended periods
  • Bend, kneel, climb, and reach throughout the workday
  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment
  • Work in indoor and outdoor warehouse environments
  • Ability to work overtime as needed

Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday 8AM-5PM (May change depending on business needs)
  • Occasional weekends
