Job Description

About The Koki Club

The Koki Club is an affordable luxury e-commerce brand rooted in Sindhi artisanal heritage. At the onset, we make ceramics, home textiles, iron and brass decor, and womenswear - all reflecting the indigenous craft traditions of the erstwhile Sindh province. We are pre-launch, bootstrapped, and building something that has never existed: a lifestyle brand that carries a near-lost culture into contemporary Indian homes.

This is a founding team role. You will not inherit a video style to maintain - you will help shape the one that defines us.

The Role

As Video Editor, you turn our footage into the way The Koki Club moves and sounds. Three things sit at the centre of your work: the Reels and Stories that carry our voice on social; the motion graphics that bring the website and the story to life; and the launch and drop films people actually remember. You take one shoot - a loom in Barmer, a brass artefact catching warm light in a Delhi haveli, the founder on an iPhone - and find the many cuts living inside it.

You will work directly with the founder, alongside the Social Media Manager and the Graphic Designer. There is no layer between you and the story - often you are the first to hear how a piece should move and sound, and close enough to the work to shape the cut before it goes out.

Core Responsibilities
Social - Reels & Stories
  • Cut Reels and Stories that hold the brand voice in motion with a hook that lands in the first second and a payoff that earns the watch, never a cheap bait-and-switch
  • Edit 9:16 first, then reframe cleanly to 1:1 and 16:9 without losing the composition the shot was built for
  • Layer covers, captions, and kinetic type in brand fonts, legible at a glance, moving with the cut rather than sitting flat on top of it - with all Indian-language text set in Devanagari
  • Match music, rhythm, and cut to the mood of the making or the craft
  • Keep a steady posting cadence sharp - turn a shoot's raw footage into a week of finished cuts without letting polish slip

Motion Graphics for Web

  • Design and animate web banners and hero moments for the koki.club Shopify store β€” motion that invites, never a carousel that shouts
  • Add subtle product motion β€” a slow push on a glazed ceramic, an Ajrakh block coming into focus, a brass bookend catching the light β€” motion you feel more than notice
  • Animate our motifs and type with restraint, inside the palette β€” Indigo Night, Madder Root, Desert Ochre, Unbleached Clay β€” so motion reads as part of the brand, not an effect laid over it
  • Export clean and light for web β€” fast to load, crisp across devices and crops β€” so motion never costs the page its calm

Footage, Story Films & Sound

  • Edit across very different footage - raw documentary-style shoots, warm indoor product shoots, the creators' content - and hold each one's truth
  • Grade to the source: keep Barmer raw and honest, keep Delhi warm and directional, and make them sit together in one feed without flattening either
  • Build the launch films as stories with a real arc - an opening that draws you in, a middle that shows the making, an ending that lands the meaning before it lands the product
  • Shape sound with care - music that fits the unhurried voice, room tone from the loom and the kiln, a mix that breathes instead of pushing

Craft, Voice & Collaboration

  • Take a brief from the founder, the Social Media Manager, and the Graphic Designer - ask the right questions, and turn work around at the pace a pre-launch brand needs
  • Keep a clean export pipeline - the right codec, bitrate, and frame rate for each destination, so nothing is re-rendered in a panic before a post goes live
  • Keep a well-labelled library of footage, project files, music, and versions across 9:16, 1:1, and 16:9 - someone can open your timeline and understand it, and nothing is ever recut from scratch
  • Bring ideas, not just execution - you'll often be the first to hear how a story should move and sound

Who You Are

  • 2–3 years editing video for a consumer, lifestyle, or D2C brand - with a reel you're proud of, ideally spanning both short social work and motion graphics
  • Fluent in Premiere Pro and After Effects, with clean motion-graphics chops; comfortable with colour, sound, captions, and a tidy export pipeline across formats and crops. DaVinci Resolve and CapCut a plus
  • A real feel for pace and rhythm - you know the frame to cut on, when to let a shot breathe, and you feel it when a cut lands a beat late
  • An ear for sound - music, room tone, and a mix that carries the unhurried voice without ever pushing the sell
  • An eye for colour - you can grade raw, documentary footage in one edit and heritage-haveli in the next, and make them belong to the same brand
  • Fluent in English and Hindi, and able to set Devanagari text on screen correctly and beautifully
  • A feel for heritage and craft - you can make documentary footage feel rooted and premium at once, without turning it into a museum reel
  • Genuinely open to learning, curious about lifestyle and D2C, and at home in a bootstrapped team where timelines are tight and you wear several hats

Why This Role Matters

The Koki Club is not a product company with a video department. It is a cultural project that happens to sell beautiful objects - and video is how the culture moves. Motion - and the sound under it - is how a near-lost heritage stops feeling like history and starts feeling like a life you recognise as your own.

You are not adding effects to our footage. You are giving Sindh a moving image - a way to move through a feed and stay in someone's mind.

You are not filling a role. You are building a function from zero. If this sounds rewarding, we welcome you to the Koki Club.
