About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President of External Engagement to play a pivotal role in the organization's mission. The successful candidate will be a senior leader with a strong background in nonprofit fundraising and external relations, dedicated to the protection and empowerment of vulnerable populations. The VP will be responsible for developing and executing a multi-year external engagement strategy that aligns with the strategic plan and revenue goals.
This includes overseeing individual and institutional giving, as well as leading the communications and brand team to enhance the organization's visibility and reputation. The role demands a strategic thinker with a proven track record in securing significant gifts, a deep commitment to the mission, and the ability to engage and support the Executive Director, senior leaders, and Board members in fundraising and external relations. Applicants must have at least 10 years' of experience in nonprofit fundraising and/or external relations, with a minimum of 5 years' in a senior leadership role.
The role requires a candidate with a strong background in individual and institutional giving, as well as experience in communications and brand strategy. The VP will be expected to manage a high-performing team, set clear goals, and ensure the organization's compliance with all fundraising and communication regulations. A Bachelor's degree is required, with an advanced degree preferred, and proficiency in at least one additional language is a plus.
The ideal candidate will be an effective public spokesperson, a strategic planner, and a relationship builder with high emotional intelligence and cultural humility. Success in this role will be measured by an increase in revenue, a stronger brand presence, and improved donor and stakeholder engagement.
