Registered Nurse (RN) | Med/Surg / Orthopedic Location: Omaha, NE Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,224 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 3/30/2026 About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Med/Surg / Ortho RN in Omaha, Nebraska, 68124! Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical Orthopedic Trauma Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Required Certifications: BLS required, ACLS preferred Must-Have: Ability to manage multiple discharges and admissions in one day Description: This position involves working on a Medical/Surgical Orthopedic Trauma unit. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6.
Common diagnoses include joint replacements, fractures, COPD exacerbation, and sepsis. The nurse is required to administer certain medications and manage their titrations. Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine are among the titratable medications.
PCA pumps are typically used for pain management. Charge nurses will take assignments but also oversee the unit. Patient care techs are available with a ratio of 1:10-20.
Telemonitoring techs interpret readings, but nurses should possess some level of telemetry awareness. Shifts include scheduled work every other weekend and require flexibility for holiday coverage. Nurses may be required to float to other medical/surgical areas as necessary.
The dress code for nurses is navy blue scrubs. The unit places significant emphasis on patient rounding and responsiveness. Successful nurses demonstrate good attendance, teamwork, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
