Transmission Engineer

We are actively recruiting for a Transmission Engineer on behalf of engineering consultancy that supports utility and infrastructure clients across Western Canada. The firm specializes in the design and delivery of high voltage transmission line projects and works closely with utilities and industrial operators to support critical power infrastructure. This Calgary based role will support the transmission line design group and offers the opportunity to work alongside a highly experienced engineering team.

The successful candidate will contribute to transmission line design, engineering analysis, and project delivery while gaining exposure to the full engineering and design process. Responsibilities Provide high voltage transmission line design and analysis using PLS CADD and other engineering design tools. Prepare engineering calculations and supporting documentation required for transmission line design development.

Develop engineering reports, project estimates, material take offs, scopes of work, survey packages, and full design packages. Participate in site visits for field reconnaissance during the design phase and support field inspections during construction. Review designs for compliance with applicable industry codes, engineering standards, and internal design requirements.

Support Safety in Design practices throughout the engineering process. Act as Design Lead on assigned projects with support from senior engineering staff. Support the training and development of junior engineers and designers.

Communicate with clients and internal project teams while supporting project schedules and budgets. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution. Approximately 6 or more years of experience in transmission line engineering and design.

Minimum 4 years of experience working with PLS CADD. Professional Engineer designation with APEGA or eligibility for registration. Experience supporting transmission line design projects for high voltage systems.

Previous experience supporting or mentoring junior engineering staff is considered an asset. #J-18808-Ljbffr
