We are looking for a Traffic Operator to join our team in New Delhi.
Main responsibilities
Contract Planning and Execution:
- Follow ups with customer and contract teams for contract signatures / Filing / updating of contracts in timely manner.
- Co-ordinate with internal traffic teams for smooth planning and execution of Indian shipments. To ensure that shipments are planned in line with contracts.
- Seek out and maintain relationships with other functions within IXM and with our external service providers/customers. Negotiate freight and maintain freight checklists and share net backs of landed numbers for major global destinations.
- To keep track of all relevant documentation, such as BLs, COA, COO, Warehouse Releases etc. and ensure that regulations and formalities are adhered to.
- Ensure all contractual notices (Nomination, shipment advice, Documents presentation, Title transfer are done well on time).
Pricing / Hedging control & Exposure control:
- Manage pricing records, ensure pricing deposits by customers are furnished as per contractual deadlines.
- Coordinate with purchase/sales in charge to convey customers’ pricing orders to IB team in a timely manner and maintain a record. Take this over directly when Traffic in charge aren’t available.
- Review pricing exposure daily. Ensure with Traffic in charge to issue Margin Call invoices and highlight to trader immediately if exposure is beyond agreed acceptable levels.
Cost Optimization and continuous improvement:
- Record all the operational issues that have resulted in or could have resulted in any financial loss.
- To track payment due dates and put customers at notice for any delay and ensure to issue Debit notes for interest for delays more than 1 day.
- Review daily/weekly/monthly execution reports to make sure no missed or inaccurate data.
- Ensure with Traffic that payment documents are submitted within an acceptable time frame. Record any such delay along with financial impact (i.e. $$ those could have been saved).
- Coordinate with Data Quality team and find ways on continuous improvement of processes and implement those in India as well.
System Entries & Back Up:
- Act as a back-up to trader in their absence/travel. To enter new contracts, update SP records, 1st check of draft contracts, follow up with customer for contract signatures.
- Be responsible for data maintenance in the system to ensure all data is input timely and accurately.
- Share and discuss any market pointers we get / come across while discussing with customer / hear in Indian Market.
- Keep record of offers/ businesses made. Especially for lost orders, maintaining a record as who won it at what level etc. to frame a competitor analysis.
Education, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, International Trade, Business, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a traffic, logistics or similar role within the metals or commodities industry.
- Strong understanding of INCOTERMS, trade finance instruments (LC’s, SBLC’s, Borrowing Base) and international shipping practices.
- Proven ability to manage stock positions, coordinate with storage facilities, and ensure stock accuracy across multiple geographies.
- Solid grasp of hedging principles and pricing mechanics as related to physical contract execution.
- Familiarity with trade documentation and regulatory compliance in multiple jurisdictions.
- Excellent organizational and negotiation skills.
- Fluency in English required; other languages (eg. French, Spanish, Mandarin) are an asset.
- Proficiency ERP systems and MS Office (especially Excel); experience with trading platforms (eg. CTRM) is a plus.
- Ability to be flexible and work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Travel may be required if business dictates
- Independent thinking and creative problem-solving skills are expected.
- Self-Motivated, with an acute Decision Making and Accountability sense.
