We are currently seeking a highly experienced Track Team Lead to join our Rail & Transit team. This leadership role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of complex passenger and freight rail infrastructure projects while supporting the growth and development of our Global Capability Centre (GCC) Rail Track team in Bogotá.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, project delivery oversight, team development, and stakeholder engagement for multidisciplinary rail projects across Canada and internationally.

Position Purpose
The Track Team Lead is responsible for leading the planning, design, engineering, and optimization of railway track infrastructure and track geometry for passenger and freight rail projects. This role combines technical leadership, project delivery, team management, stakeholder engagement, and business development support to ensure high-quality outcomes and sustainable growth of the Rail Track practice.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Design
- Lead the development and review of railway track geometry and track infrastructure designs in compliance with applicable standards, codes, regulations, and client requirements.
- Serve as the Discipline Lead for Track Design on railway and transit projects.
- Make technical decisions on complex engineering challenges and project delivery approaches.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineers and designers at all levels.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including Civil, Structural, Utilities, Geotechnical, Systems, and Operations disciplines.
- Conduct technical reviews, constructability assessments, risk analyses, and value engineering studies.
- Ensure the integration of railway track designs within larger transportation infrastructure projects.
- Promote innovation, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence across project teams.
- Support the implementation of best practices, technical standards, and quality management processes.
Team Leadership & Capability Development
- Lead and grow the Bogotá GCC Rail Track team in close collaboration with Canadian counterparts.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop rail engineering professionals.
- Support workforce planning, succession planning, and long-term capability development initiatives.
- Establish technical governance procedures and quality assurance frameworks.
- Implement peer review processes and lessons-learned programs.
- Encourage technical knowledge sharing and adoption of industry best practices.
- Support the strategic growth of railway track engineering services across Canadian and international projects.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a senior technical liaison between Canadian project teams, clients, contractors, operators, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
- Support business development initiatives, proposals, and project pursuits.
- Provide technical expertise during client meetings and project workshops.
- Resolve complex technical and operational issues while balancing project objectives, quality requirements, and client expectations.
- Represent the Rail Track practice during audits, technical forums, working groups, and industry engagements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and strategic partners.
Position Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
- Master's degree or additional railway engineering certifications will be considered an asset.
Experience
- 10+ years of experience in railway track engineering and rail transit infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience delivering complex multidisciplinary rail and transit projects.
- Demonstrated experience in technical leadership and project management roles.
- Experience working directly with clients and key stakeholders.
- Proven success leading engineering teams and mentoring technical professionals.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of railway engineering design and construction standards, including:
- AREMA
- CN Standards
- CPKC Standards
- TCRP Guidelines
- Thorough understanding of:
- Railway track design
- Inspection practices
- Asset management
- Railway maintenance requirements
- Advanced proficiency in:
- AutoCAD
- Navisworks
