AboutMount Milligan Mine

Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in centralBC,the Mount Milligan Mineis a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.

Mount Milligan operates withcomfortablecamp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.

Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an Technician, Lab Assay to join our Mount Milligan Mine (MTM) operations site.

This role operates on a rotation of 7 days on / 7 days off at a 12-hour daily schedule with camp accommodations provided.

The Technician, Lab Assay is responsible for supporting Mine and Mill operations through the safe, accurate, and timelypreparation and analysis of mineral samples. This position performs a variety of laboratory and sample preparation duties while ensuring compliance with established quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) standards, company procedures,and health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform all work safely and in compliance with company policies, site procedures, and applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with Mine, Mill, Metallurgy, and other operational teams to support production requirements.
  • Prepare mine, mill, and metallurgical samples for analysis, including sample receiving, logging, drying, crushing, splitting, pulverizing, and truck sample collection.
  • Conduct routine laboratory analyses in accordance with established analytical methods and QA/QC protocols.
  • Accurately record, verify, and report analytical data within required turnaround times.
  • Assist in identify, report, and respond to hazards, incidents, and near misses in accordance with site reporting procedures.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and sample preparation equipment through routine cleaning, inspections, and basic preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory by following housekeeping standards and proper waste disposal practices.
  • Assist with inventory control of laboratory consumables and supplies.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory methods, procedures, and operational efficiency.
  • Perform duties as assigned by the Assay Laboratory Supervisor.

About You

The following will be critical to successfully perform this role:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Diploma or certificate in Chemistry, Laboratory Technology, or a related scientific discipline is highly desired.
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in laboratory setting, preferably in a mining, mineral processing, or an industrial environment.
  • Experience in assaying of base metals, gold, and instrumental techniques is an asset.
  • Previous experience in fire assay, wet assay, AAS, ICP-OES, LECO, and XRF operations is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and laboratory information management systems (LIMS) is an asset.
  • Practical experience with equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting analytical processes.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for clear reporting and team coordination.
  • Good interpersonal skills to foster collaboration between peers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote camp setting.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high quality standards and meeting production targets.
  • Commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Working Conditions

  • Work involves a camp-based role at the Mount Milligan Mine site with a set work schedule on a 7x7, 12 hours alternating day/night rotations
  • Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts, up to 12 hours in duration
  • Occasional exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Mount Milligan is a safety-sensitive environment and promotes a drug & alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a ZERO – TOLERANCE policy, with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs/paraphernalia on site
  • Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from Prince George, Fort St. James and Mackenzie
