Tech Lead / Engineering Lead

Job Description - Tech Lead / Engineering Lead Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Tech Lead / Engineering Lead to lead backend engineering, system architecture, scalability, and technical delivery across multiple fintech and digital platforms. The role requires strong ownership, production troubleshooting capabilities, leadership under pressure, and hands-on technical expertise in scalable payment systems and cloud-native architectures. Key Responsibilities • Lead backend engineering and architecture decisions across platforms • Design scalable, secure, and high-availability systems • Define engineering standards, coding practices, and architecture guidelines • Lead modernization initiatives including microservices and platform scalability • Own production stability and critical incident handling • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and preventive action implementation • Improve observability, monitoring, logging, alerting, and troubleshooting practices • Manage engineering delivery timelines and technical execution • Coordinate with QA, DevOps, product, and infrastructure teams • Reduce technical debt and improve long-term maintainability Infrastructure & Scalability • Work closely with DevOps teams on Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud infrastructure • Optimize application and database performance • Implement scalable event-driven and asynchronous processing architectures • Support high-volume transaction processing systems Security & Compliance • Ensure engineering practices align with security and regulatory requirements • Support secure coding standards and infrastructure security controls • Participate in security reviews and compliance initiatives Required Skills & Experience • 7+ years of backend engineering experience • Strong experience with Python, FastAPI, Django, and microservices architecture • Strong experience with PostgreSQL and MySQL optimization • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure) • Strong understanding of distributed systems and scalable architectures • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, etc.) • Strong debugging and production incident management skills • Experience leading engineering teams and technical delivery Preferred Experience • FinTech, payment gateway, banking, or regulated industry experience (Mandatory) • Experience handling high-volume transactional systems • PCI DSS, SOC2, or security/compliance exposure • Experience with event-driven architecture, queues, and async processing Key Qualities • Strong ownership mentality • Leadership under pressure • Problem-solving and RCA mindset • Clear communication and accountability • Ability to work in fast-paced production environments
