Teacher of Chemistry

New Hall School invites applications for a dynamic and inspiring Teacher of Chemistry to join our thriving academic community. The role involves teaching students across the Senior Divisions (Years 7-13).

Key Responsibilities

• Set high expectations that inspire, motivate and challenge students
• Promote good progress and outcomes by students
• Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and curriculum knowledge
• Plan and teach well‑structured lessons
• Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all students, including ensuring EAL, SEND and MAT students are supported in lessons
• Make accurate and productive use of assessment, including both formative and summative assessment
• Mark books to a high standard, ensuring regular and constructive feedback
• Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment
• Maintain and develop a sound knowledge of the subject area, including developments in teaching the subject; bring INSET needs and opportunities to the attention of appropriate people
• Deliver and communicate clearly the requirements of the examination specification and the Department’s schemes of work, including coursework requirements
• Play a significant role in the co‑curricular programme, including trips and events

The Successful Candidate Will Be Expected

• Have a clear understanding of, and commitment to, the aims and ethos of a Catholic independent boarding and day school
• Have Qualified Teacher Status and either be an experienced or Early Careers Teacher
• Have excellent communication, organisational, IT and leadership skills
• Have a secure understanding of child development and safeguarding
• Have the ability to motivate others, build effective teams and work positively with parents
• Show a willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and to work flexibly as required
