The Role
We are looking for a Systems Engineer to assist us in the development of our Operational Decision Support Systems (DSS); configuration of the generic systems and the development of new customisations. A strong mathematical/engineering background is preferred, with the aptitude and desire to develop software for system integration, user interfaces, and other components. Thoroughness over speed is valued.
You will be responsible for developing decision support solutions as well as providing technical and project management support on numerous projects in Australia and worldwide.
We are currently seeking a self-motivated Systems Engineer to play a leading role in the development and support of our real‑time decision support systems for a range of clients throughout Australia and the APAC region. You will have 1-3 years of experience in systems engineering, preferably in real‑time systems and with some software development experience. Experience in the water industry or domain knowledge in water engineering would be an advantage.
Applicants with a solid background in hydrology or hydraulic engineering and modelling, and with a strong interest in and proven experience with IT and software development, are also encouraged to apply.
The position has significant client interaction and will require close interaction with, and occasional travel to, our clients throughout Australia and our development centres in Asia and Europe. Skills And Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Systems, Civil, Environmental engineering, Software Development or similar.
- 1-3 years of experience in a related position.
- Proven track record with IT and software development.
- Backend software development (C#, .NET, Python).
- Experience in client liaison and interaction.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in the water sector, hydrology or hydraulics.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience using DHI's MIKE Software (MIKE OPERATIONS).
- Data science programming experience (R scripting, Python).
- Previous experience in optimisation algorithms.
- Knowledge of ArcGIS and QGIS.
- Knowledge of hydrological and hydraulic simulation models.
- Experience in configuring and maintaining real‑time control systems.
- Knowledge of networks and data communication systems.
- Knowledge of software quality assurance procedures.
- Technical documentation writing experience.
- Web development experience (JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React).
- Development experience using AI.
