Surveillance Analyst – Equity Markets A leading European trading venue and financial technology provider is seeking a Surveillance Analyst to join its Market Surveillance team. This is a varied role combining market monitoring, regulatory oversight, and involvement in surveillance technology development . You will play a key role in ensuring market integrity across equity trading platforms, while also contributing to the enhancement and client-facing aspects of the firm’s surveillance capabilities.
Role Overview This is a multi-faceted position with responsibilities spanning: Primary focus: Monitoring trading activity across equity markets to detect and prevent market abuse Secondary focus: Supporting the development and enhancement of in-house surveillance systems Client exposure: Assisting with presentations and discussions related to surveillance capabilities and technology solutions Workload will vary depending on business activity, with a core emphasis on surveillance alongside broader project and client-facing responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Monitor trading activity using surveillance tools and alerts to identify potential market abuse Investigate suspicious trading patterns and escalate where appropriate Support development, testing, and improvement of internal surveillance systems Liaise with technology teams to resolve system issues and implement enhancements Prepare regulatory documentation and reports, including contributions to quarterly outputs Assist with regulatory submissions and interactions with authorities (e.g. suspicious transaction reporting) Maintain key market data including trading calendars, reference pricing, and instrument status Support business continuity processes and incident reporting during market disruptions Engage with internal stakeholders and external clients regarding surveillance queries and processes Participate in ongoing regulatory monitoring, investigations, and programme delivery Required Experience & Skills Approximately 4+ years’ experience in Market Surveillance within a bank, broker, exchange, or trading venue Strong understanding of market abuse risks and regulatory frameworks (e.g. UK/EU regulations) Good knowledge of equity markets (derivatives knowledge also beneficial) Experience with surveillance systems such as: NICE Actimize Nasdaq SMARTS OneTick Familiarity with tools such as Refinitiv , JIRA , and Confluence is advantageous Exposure to transaction reporting or compliance functions is a plus Please apply if you think suitable.
